The Choosy Weather Seed

by Gambitt

One day in the quiet town of Selros, a salesman appeared with a suitcase and a soap box. He walked to the middle of the town square, set the soap box down, and stood up on it. He explained that he created a new way to grow crops. He had invented seeds that, when planted, grow weather. If a furre planted a seed in the right location, it could rain, and feed the crops.

Many had gathered around him, and wondered if he was telling the truth. Some said he was lying, so the salesman planted a seed and it instantly rained. The furres were amazed as they gathered around to buy some of the magic seeds. A foreigner, who was friends with one of the townsfolk, bought a box of seeds, along with his friend.

When the foreigner and his friend returned to the crop, they planted the seed and sure enough, it rained, making the crops grow quickly. They were fascinated. When the foreigner returned home he planted the seeds in his crop and unfortunately, there wasn't any rain, there was hail, and it killed most of his crops. The furre was angered and decided to back to his friend, and find the salesman.

When he returned, he found the salesman selling more seeds. The furre walked up to the salesman and angrily told him what happened. The sales man asked where he lived, and when he heard the answer, he simply smiled and explained to him that the place he described is a place that the salesman never visits, because the seeds have a bad effect there. He then stressed the fact he said before, "if planted in the right location..."

Moral: What's good for the goose is not always good for the gander.
