The Hidden Talent

by Gambitt

In the land of Hector, where the famous Choir of Furcadia performed, there lived a young boy by the name of Deuc who always wanted to sing with The Choir of Furcadia. When he told this to his father, a farmer, his father would punish Deuc for even thinking of joining that.

Deuc always tried to pracitce singing the songs without his father hearing, but never could get each note perfect. Because he was 13, his voice was cracking and every shrieked note was heard. Deuc decided to pursue his dream, and left his home, to find the choir.

He had searched in the ancient jungles of Rolle to the barren deserts of Glardok until he finally found a trailer in the desert. Thinking of it as an oasis, Deuc wearily traveled toward the trailer. When he got inside, he found the singers practicing! Deuc asked why there were in the middle of a desert, and they explained that the city life is too harsh to pracitce in.

With high hearts, Deuc asked if he could join the choir. The choir were surprised by the request, being that he was 13. But they put him to the test anyway. Through each note, Deuc tried as hard as he could not to miss a beat. He was very successful, and he conviced the choir to let him tour with them.

Back at home, The family was searching everywhere in the town for Deuc. They had asked neighbors, but they didn't know. One neighbor exclaimed that if the father had let his son sing with that group, none of this would have happened. The father didn't care about that anymore, he just wanted his son back. Later that day, a sharply dressed messenger announced an event. He said that the Choir of Furcadia were performing that night, featuring the newest and youngest member, Deuc.

After hearing this, the family was in shock to hear such news. That night, the choir came into town, and started to sing with their new member, Deuc. The family found Deuc, and Deuc found the family, so he stopped singing. The family was terrified to see him not sing, so they had encouraged him to go ahead.

And with that helping leap of encouragement, Deuc decided to sing again, and performed wonderfully that night. When the show was over, the family congratulated Deuc and gave him permission to sing. So, Deuc happily chanted with the group as the family was delighted to hear his success.
