So you want to become a Mason Master?
A Mason Master's job is very tough and rigorous, and so is the apprenticeship. Only the top Beekin Masons will be accepted into this group of advanced dream weavers. This selective group of Masons are consulted for their extensive knowledge of Dream Weaving and DragonSpeak to work on main map projects,
special Furcadia events, and most importantly -- teach classes concerning
DragonSpeak/dream weaving and help out other Masons on the Dream Channel.
If you're unsure about your dream weaving and/or DragonSpeak skills, why not take a few classes or sit down with a Mason Master for awhile and improve upon your skills? It'll definitely help your
chances, since you can only apply for a Mason
Master once every three months.
If you think you're ready, then feel free to fill out the form below. And just in case there is any confusion, only official Beekin Masons can apply for the Mason Master program. ** Beekin Mason trainees and other furres cannot apply.
Important Information: The Application Process
|
The current
Master Mason application process
involves an applicant to prepare a
dream of their own design. In your quest to become
Master Mason, there are three
important steps:
| Step
1: Complete the following
Master Apprenticeship form,
and submit it. |
|
| Step
2: The Master Mason Head
replies with a challenge for
the applicant. |
|
There
are five different
types of challenges,
including game,
adventure,
dream,
technical,
and an "individual
design challenge".
You can choose which
type of challenge you
would prefer to
receive.
Game
Challenge ("The
Gypsy's
Challenge"):
Will require the
applicant to build
some type of game
playable in Furcadia.
This may range from
coded board games
(like Senet), to
interactive games,
like Q-bert or
Pac-man, to
mass-player games,
like Bomberman, Tron,
or lazer-tag type
games.
Adventure
Challenge ("The
Bard's
Challenge"):
Will require the
applicant to build
some type of adventure
dream. An example of
this would be Simon
Potter’s challenge
dreams, or Gar’s
quiz. The main
elements of an
adventure dream are a
story that is carried
out, and challenges
that the player meets
that advance the
story. The Mason Head
may select a topic or
theme that they wish
to see the adventure
built around.
Dream
Challenge ("The
Crafter's
Challenge"):
This is when the
applicant attempts to
become a Master Mason
based almost entirely
on their dream design
skills alone. It will
be the most difficult
way of becoming a
Master Mason, and most
who attempt to become
a Mason this way may
not succeed. The
Master Mason Head will
provide the applicant
with a theme for a
dream, and the mason
must carry this theme
throughout the entire
dream. The applicant’s
success will be based
entirely on the visual
impact and usability
of the dream. Technical
Challenge ("The
King's
Challenge"):
Will require the
applicant to design
and build a
DragonSpeak “technology”.
These technologies
will essentially be
used for the Mason
Knowledgebase. A
technology is defined
as an advanced
DragonSpeak concept
that can be applied to
almost any dream.
Examples of a
DragonSpeak technology
would include a “shuffling”
system, a midi-player,
or an inventory
system. Individual
Design Challenge:
This is a
specifically-designed
challenge by you,
should you not be
satisfied with the
above challenges -- in
the appropriate place
on the below form,
will be able to
describe your
challenge (its basic
point, and what it
will entail). |
|
|
| Step
3: Applicant submits his/her
completed challenge. |
|
The applicant submits the completed dream files to
masons@furcadia.com for evaluation.
By submitting a challenge for evaluation, you acknowledge that the material submitted,
along with the entered challenges, may be used for the Mason Knowledgebase, or for teaching examples; the Masons will provide full credit to the creator of the submitted material, if it is used for these purposes.
