Summer's heat shimmers above the sun-baked stones of the festival ground. The last of Danival's snows has long past, Jujinka's flowers have gone to seed, now is the time of M'Rill, Prime of Felines. Now is the time of the Summerfest! Join us on the banks of the ancient river for fun in the sun! There are tombs to explore, a barge ride, ancient riddles and games, even an exotic market full of wonders. Light the fires! M'Rill is here!

Dream Contest

  • The theme for this year is 'Wild Things'.
  • Each dream is required to utilize the String DS in a significant way within the realm of their dream.
  • Contestants do not need to make their entries 'summer' themed, though summer certainly does lend itself to the theme!
  • Read the Dream Contest Guide and follow the rules and guidelines.
  • Rules and Requirements- read carefully!
  • Only one entry permitted. Masters and Regular categories will be judged separately. Exhibition (non-judged) entries are also accepted!

Wild Things Essay
Mankind in all its flexibility has settled a huge part of the globe, but there are still wild places left--even ones that aren't obvious at first glance. In a short creative essay, teach us about a wild place you know. Maybe it's the depths of the Amazonian rainforest or the bottom of the ocean, or maybe it's just your back yard! Be sure to focus on what makes it so wild!
  • Judges are looking for proper spelling and grammar, enticing story, as well as great detail and thematic elements.
  • Essays have a maximum of 7,000 characters--this includes spaces. Please use html line breaks (<br />)!

Build a "WILD THING" - Avatar Design
'Wild Things' are amazing imaginative creations (not related to the popular childrens' book, Where the Wild Things Are)! Design a 'Wild Thing' in the form of 'concept art' or a 'design sketch' with notes describing various characteristics of their design. Extra points to those who provide a Furcadia-size avatar in the 'first standing' position (avatar faces south-east in a standing position!). An extra special part of this contest, we will be choosing one entry (not necessarily a winner) for a Dragon's Eye Artist to develop into a new avatar for Furcadia. The one chosen will get a free life version of the avatar. DEP has never attempted a contest like this, so we are truly excited to be offering such for the 2011 Summerfest!
  • Concept art/Design sheet must not be greater than a 600x800 (height by width) graphic, in .jpg, .gif, or .png. Avatar must be presented in .fox format -- .zip together, please!
  • Master entries MUST make a note that they are a master participant in the text field of their submission.
  • Only one entry permitted. Masters and Regular categories will be judged separately. Exhibition (non-judged) entries are also accepted
  • All images should be optimized for digital display on a webpage. Transparent backgrounds, clean edges, and well-contrasted pictures are a plus.

Wild Thing Sound Byte
Roar! Hiss... mew? We're looking for your best Wild Thing noise! Capture it in a sound byte and send it in!
  • Specifically, we are looking for sounds that could be used in Dreams.
  • Please note that these sounds should be the original recordings by the individual submitting them.
  • Accepted audio files are .wav, only!

Keep your eyes on the news and forums for the next contest to be announced!

Any questions about the Summerfest should be directed to the forums. Thank you and good luck!

Furcadia's Event Team reserves the right to prejudge all entries before accepting them to all and any contests. Not everyone is guaranteed a prize.
