· What
are the Chartered Guild Rules? ·
1. A
Guild is considered the property and responsibility of only one
player, called the "Rah". The Rah is the ultimate judge of
who is, or isn't a member.
2. The
Rah usually begins by making a web page and putting the Guild's
Charter on it. A Chartered Guild requires a web site. For a complete
list of all the things the Charter must include, see Making
Guild Charters.
The
Charter is *important*. Put its URL in your description, and
prospective Charter Members can read what's on your mind. Let them
know this is just your tentative plan, and that the final Charter can
be different.
3. The
next step is recruiting ten Charter Members. These are Furcadia
players who agree to be in your Guild and abide by the Charter that
you submit to Furcadia's Guild Charters. If you can't find ten people, don't
give up- get together with the people you *do* have, and see if you
can't make your Charter more like what people want.
4. The
player identities of alts in the Guild are to be made known to the
Rah. You might not understand right away why we have this rule, but
its wisdom shines through time and time again. The Charter may waive
this rule but we don't recommend it!
The
Charter may specify whether or not players are allowed to play alts,
and how many. It may also specify if different alts of one player are
allowed to interact at all. The Rah is expected keep track of the
names of all the characters in the Guild unless the Charter specifies
otherwise.
A
Chartered Guild is made up of real human players, not their Furre
characters. If your alt is not made known to your Guild's Rah, that
alt is not a part of the Chartered Guild continuity and should be kept
OUT of Guild-controlled Dreams. The Rah should also consider carefully
if they wish to permit non-member guests.
5. The
Rah is allowed up to two assistants, called Taneests (a Taneesta is a
female Taneest). Rah and Taneest names are often on a theme, to help
players remember them. Rah and Taneest alts are "utility"
characters, and they are used for OOC (Out Of Character), real life,
socializing or referee/administrator purposes.
6. Only
the Rah can pass on the title of Rah to another. If the Charter
specifies that a Rah is elected, the current Rah must still officially
inform Elizabeth Kitty that there has been a change.
7. The
Furcadia Staff is in no way responsible for a Guild, even a Chartered
one. If the players won't follow the Charter, it's up to Rah and the
Guild to take action. Sorry, but we will not normally reveal
identities of player alts, for example.
8. We
don't recommend attempting to do serious roleplaying with anybody
outside of your own Guild. If you would like to take part in casual
"serendipitous" spontaneous Persona Play, however, we offer
the following setting: The
Dragonlands ("Freestyle" medieval fantasy; Bugges,
Wyrmmes, & nonsentient dragons pets).
*** A Dream for this setting is provided in your folder. Everyone has
a copy of it: draglan1.map.
"Furcadia"
is not a Continuity, it's the name of the whole game. Meovanni
Village, Allegria Island, and other regions are not considered part of
a world unto themselves, they're just non-private play areas. Nobody
is obligated to Persona Play or Roleplay out here.
9. We
strongly recommend that Guilds keep their Roleplaying on their own
private maps. Meovanni Village, Acropolis, Allegria Island, etc., are
not considered the "real" Furcadia. The name Furcadia refers
to both IC and OOC worlds, *all* continuities together. There is not
one unified super-continuity, and we assume that the continuity of the
Guild does *not* include what goes on outside of Guild-controlled
regions.
If you
try to Roleplay out in "public" you'll find that you tend to
A) confuse bystanders, B) draw players into playing out plot events
with consequences to which they won't consent, and C) will not be
granted the IC power that your character may have legitimately earned
within your Guild's Continuity. In short, you'll be frustrated, you'll
waste time, and you'll be frustrating and wasting the time of others.
10. All
Chartered Guilds default to In Character time going at two times Real
World time. Thus, a week of real time equals two weeks of game time.
If this is not so, it should be specified in Charter.
11.
Chartering of a Guild continues so long as it remains beneficial to
the majority of players in the entire game. If the actions of Guild
members sours the atmosphere, if they impose upon other Furres, if the
intent becomes something other than to Roleplay/PersonaPlay/Socialize,
their web page link will be removed, and their Charter revoked.
